Welcome to our website!
We wish all our members and friends all the best for a happy and healthy New Year in 2020
During the summer the bowls carpet was relaid and flooring serviced and levelled. The carpet has gone back really well and is running fast and true. The carpet speed was recorded at 18.4 seconds.
Our Summer Singles was won by Linda Charge and the Pairs by Linda and partner Peter Tandy. As the nights draw in and the weather changes, memories of Summer become distant and we focus on the 2019-20 Winter Season.
Our curtain raising WIBC Charity Day in September heralded the Indoor Winter season. Once again we thank Wall Bros for their invaluable support for the charity events.
From October until May we offer our complete range of Winter season activities: Roll Ups, Spoons, Aggregate Sessions, Leagues of various formats, triples or fours, open mixed, men or ladies.
Winter Competitions; National, County and Club are underway from Early November. We will be running a new competition this year to mark our transition to a fully open club. The competition will be an ‘Open 2 Wood Singles’ the first competition truly offering the chance for Men to compete with Women on the green.
If you can please support our men and women in the National Competitions. Most of these take place at 10 am on Sunday mornings. Also get your name down for club matches, the best way to improve your bowls is through competition.
WIBC now take card payments for financial transactions with the club. Card Readers are available in the Office and the Bar. We can take all card types with the exception of American Express, the minimum transaction amount is £5.00.
In common with lots of businesses across the UK WIBC is concerned that we do our bit for the environment. From Monday 15th January 2018, we ask that all our members place their plastic drinking water cups in the recycling bins with the blue lids available on the sides of the green, rather than in the litter bins which are emptied into our general refuse. We have further reduced our carbon footprint with the installation of a cold air drier in the men’s loos and thus reducing the use of throwaway paper towels. The overall reduction in electricity use by our changeover to LED lighting has been of the order of 20%. We will continue to look for ways of doing our bit for the environment. Thank you for your cooperation.
Welcome to our website. We hope you find the information you are looking for and that you will visit both the website again in future and the club in person to share in the great activity that Indoor Bowls offers.

We provide first class facilities for both competitive and social bowling. Internal leagues are played daily and members play friendly matches against other clubs at least twice each week. Our 5 rink air-conditioned green at 38 metres is one of the longest in the south of England, and with a carpet which was replaced in August 2009, we have a perfect playing surface. New and improved LED lighting was installed in June 2018. Internal redecoration also makes this a very pleasant environment. The underlay for the bowls area was replaced and the carpet turned in May 2019.
There is ample seating around the green for viewing and playing members and large glass windows separating the green from social and dining areas enable clear views of the bowling whilst enjoying a meal or glass of wine.
Facilities are in place for disabled bowlers with a ramp entry onto the green and an adapted bowling wheelchair is available to use if required.
Changing rooms have been recently upgraded and are conveniently placed and contain individual bowls lockers which may be rented annually for a small fee.
